Like many other brands, Moza added 360Hz force feedback support earlier this year. This is especially significant for users with wheelbases like the R5, as it brings higher fidelity that was previously reserved for more powerful hardware, despite the R5’s lower FFB ceiling. While the upgrade improves force feedback quality across the board, it has also introduced new issue.

Users have reported strange internal noises in models from across Moza’s entire wheelbase catalogue, raising concerns about potential internal damage, even in newly purchased models. iRacing is the primary game where users have reported this issue occurring, so obtaining an overview of what to do if the problem persists is key, which is what we will explore in this entry. 

Quick checks and possible fixes

The issue has layers; there will be parts of the update that some users will like, while others will want to disable certain features, while retaining others. As with so many things within the niche of sim racing, fine-tuning is the name of the game, especially when it comes to force feedback, so we will present the different variations of ‘fixes’ that you might want to explore.

Disabling Wheel LFE (Low Frequency Effects)

Many of the noise-related issues and intense shaking in the wheelbase caused by the update stem from the new Wheel LFE feature. Here, users have reported that disabling all options in the Misc LFE section within iRacing will reduce some of the vibrations.

You can always choose to fine-tune the dB value of the effect, as some users have reported feeling more detail in their wheel after adjusting it. As always, feel free to fine-tune it to your liking.

The aim of this new feature is to allow users to feel engine vibrations that gradually increase as they reach high RPMs through the haptic engine within the wheelbase. While this might initially seem highly immersive, it may not be as beneficial for those who need to consider noise factors.

Changing the ‘enableFFB360HzInterpolated‘ value to “0”

As mentioned, disabling the LFE features won’t remove all vibrations to the detriment of Moza users, who might want to revert the force feedback feeling to a pre-update state. Therefore, Moza has released a guide on how to disable the 360Hz features entirely

First, you need to locate the iRacing app.ini configuration file within your iRacing folder at Documents\iRacing\app.ini.

Afterwards, open the app.ini file and search for ‘enableFFB360HzInterpolated=1’.

Change the value from ‘1’ to ‘0’, so it says ‘enableFFB360HzInterpolated=0’.

While this essentially nullifies the additions of the new update, users have reported that it has fixed their issues.

According to an official update log from Moza, it was initially suggested that users disable the Moza API to prevent its use in the game. Although users have reported that this hasn’t resolved the issue, it may be worth checking out as a last resort before taking further action.

Look for ‘LoadMozaAPI=1 in the same iRacing app.ini files mentioned above and change the value to ‘0
