“Waiting for data” means SimHub is open and listening, but nothing has reached it.

SimHub needs three things to agree before the numbers move: Data Out switched on, the IP pointing at whichever machine is running SimHub, and the same UDP port on both sides. One wrong digit in that port leaves the dash empty.

If all three match and it’s still not working, check Windows next, then any other telemetry software listening on UDP.

FH6 adds two rules of its own. Avoid ports 5200 through 5300, and test the connection with the car moving because FH6 stops sending telemetry outside active driving.

Quick Settings for SimHub and Forza Horizon

If Forza and SimHub are running on the same PC, start with:

Data Out: On

Data Out IP Address: 127.0.0.1

Data Out IP Port: the same port SimHub is listening on

In both games, Data Out is under Settings > HUD and Gameplay.

Forza’s FH6 Data Out documentation confirms that 127.0.0.1 works when the receiving app is on the same PC. It also tells you to avoid ports 5200 through 5300 and allow the chosen port through your firewall.

FH6 uses a fixed packet format, so there’s no Sled or CarDash selector like you get in Forza Motorsport. FH5’s Horizon Data Out menu doesn’t ask you to choose one either.

If an old guide tells you to edit Config.xml, choose CarDash, or disable Broadcast mode, ignore those steps for FH5 and FH6. Config.xml-style telemetry instructions belong to other racing games, and Horizon’s setup happens in the game menu.

Open SimHub, select the correct Forza Horizon title, check the UDP port it’s listening on, then type that exact number into Forza.

How to Set Up SimHub With Forza Horizon 5

Open SimHub first.

Go to Games, select Forza Horizon 5, and check the UDP port. If SimHub offers to configure the game automatically, use it. If nothing comes through, set the fields manually.

Open FH5 and go to Settings > HUD and Gameplay. Scroll down to Data Out and turn it on.

Use the IP address that matches your setup:

  • Same PC as FH5: 127.0.0.1
  • SimHub on another PC: that PC’s local IP address
  • Xbox: the local IP address of the PC running SimHub

Set Data Out IP Port to the number shown in SimHub, save the settings, then drive.

Don’t judge the connection from the menus. SimHub can still show as disconnected before you enter a driving session.

How to Set Up SimHub With Forza Horizon 6

Update SimHub before changing the FH6 settings.

FH6 support arrived with SimHub 9.11.13 on 15 May 2026. If you’re running anything older, update before diagnosing the connection.

Select Forza Horizon 6 under Games in SimHub and note its UDP port.

Then open FH6, go to Settings > HUD and Gameplay, turn Data Out on, and use 127.0.0.1 if SimHub is running on the same PC. Enter the same port SimHub is listening on.

Keep that port outside 5200 through 5300.

Now drive. FH6 stops sending telemetry in menus, pauses, replays, rewinds, as well as once a race finishes. If “waiting for data” disappears the moment you pull away, leave the settings alone.

How to Use SimHub on Xbox or a Second PC

127.0.0.1 only points back to the machine running the game.

On Xbox, or with SimHub running on another PC, enter the local IP address of the SimHub PC in Forza instead. Both devices need to be on the same network.

Use the same UDP port SimHub is listening on and allow SimHub through Windows Firewall on your private network.

SimHub’s compatibility notes still flag FH5 on “XBOX X” as broken, although the page doesn’t identify the console model more clearly. If you’re on Xbox and the IP, port, and firewall all check out, keep that compatibility warning in mind.

When SimHub Still Says It’s Waiting for Data

How you installed Forza changes the next check.

The Xbox app and Microsoft Store versions can hit a Windows AppContainer restriction that blocks telemetry from returning to the same PC. SimHub tries to unlock that communication itself.

If it fails, use the AppContainer Loopback Utility linked from SimHub’s game configuration and troubleshooting guide. Find the Forza entry, tick it, apply the change, then restart SimHub and the game.

Steam users can skip the loopback utility.

SimHub’s notes still warn about broken Steam telemetry for FH4 and FH5. They also say Steam can start a game with administrator rights, which can stop SimHub from detecting it. If that happens, run SimHub as administrator too.

Next, test Windows Firewall. Turn it off briefly, drive, and watch SimHub. If data appears, turn the firewall back on and add an allow rule for SimHub. Do the same with any VPN.

If your wheel, pedals, or other USB gear are dropping out at the same time, the fault is probably wider than Forza telemetry. Our sim racing rig troubleshooting guide covers the hardware and USB checks from there.

Using SimHub With MOZA Pit House or Another Telemetry App

Forza sends telemetry to one IP address and one port. If two apps on the same PC both expect to own that UDP port, you can hit a conflict.

SimHub’s UDP forwarding feature fixes that setup. Forza sends its data to SimHub, then SimHub forwards a copy to the second app.

Give SimHub a free listening port and put that port into Forza. Then, add a forwarding target inside SimHub for the port the other app expects.

MOZA uses different Data Out ports for FH4, FH5, and FH6. Its FH6 telemetry guide uses 20066, so an FH6 Pit House setup can receive a forwarded copy at 127.0.0.1:20066.

If you carry an FH5 port into FH6, Pit House may be listening for a different number. Check the FH6 setting before changing anything else.

Some telemetry apps can also rewrite Forza’s Data Out settings. Disable that behaviour if the app allows it, or it may overwrite the port you just entered.

If one app starts receiving data as soon as you close another, check the ports first.

Run These Checks Before You Reinstall Anything

If the dash is still empty, go through this once from top to bottom:

  • Confirm the correct Forza Horizon title is selected in SimHub
  • Confirm Data Out is on and the IP address is correct
  • Match Forza’s UDP port to SimHub, digit for digit
  • In FH6, avoid 5200 through 5300 and test while driving
  • Close VPNs and other telemetry apps
  • Check Windows Firewall, then restart SimHub and Forza after any network or loopback change

Stop as soon as the numbers appear. You’ve found the fault.

When to Get Help

Once the IP and port match, the car is sending data, and Windows isn’t blocking it, changing more settings can create a second problem on top of the first.

That gets messy fast when SimHub is also feeding Pit House, a wheel display, or shakers.

If you want someone to trace the setup with you, get in touch with SimStaff. Remote support can check the SimHub config, network path, and other software using the telemetry feed.
